Elastic
Elastin is an umbrella term for a number of elastic materials. However, not all elastic materials are elastic.
A common application of elastic in the hem or band of clothing, where
the light is all around the body to prevent the garment slips. Sometimes
it is a very elastic substance, the "stretch fabric, which is then
tightly around the body.
Another common application is as thin
rubber rings around objects, such as letters, temporarily attaching
together. See also: rubber band.
In addition, elastic materials
such as rubber used in vibration-damping. This is possible because a
high elastic internal friction, which dampen not continue to vibrate, as
was the case when suspension was used.
Elastic does not meet
the spring constant: frac {F} {u} not = k. This means that the
stretching (you) not proportional to the applied force (F) as a rubber
band stretched more (or pressed) is increasingly more power is needed
for the same stretch (or compression). Source: wikipedia
